Suzie Beauty Ltd Partnership
Posted on January 5, 2015
I picked up doing interviews on my blog in 2011. When I started, I used the free wordpress platform to publish interviews and other short features. (Just the same way we never throw away our old text books, I decided to let that old blog stay. Its a constant reminder of where this blogging journey began. See it for yourself here) Anyway, after I got done with the first interview, the obvious question was “Who’s next?”…and that is how the passion for publishing profiles of interesting personalities started and grew ever since. Initially, once someone agreed to do an interview with me, I went to their facebook profile and I extracted nice photos that I would use. But things took a turn when I was working on Patricia Kihoro’s story. (This is also the point where I made the transition to this new blog) For the very first time, I partnered with a photographer who would take nice, exclusive photos. The journey on interesting photo-shoots with my interviewees began at this point. It goes without saying that for every shoot, we needed a make up artiste to doll up the subject. Thus, my working relationship with different make up artistes also took root. With time, I realized the need to have consistency in terms of the quality of make-up work done on my interviewees. This is where Suzie Beauty Ltd comes in.
For three of my blog projects, I’ve had the honor of working with Suzie Wokabi as our make up artiste, representing her own makeup brand, SB Ltd. So it was during one of these shoots where I approached Suzie and expressed the need for me to partner with SB Ltd for my blog projects. (I guess she is the most approachable person of her stature I’ve met!) The basis of the partnership is that for every blog project that I’m working on, SB Ltd will be the official make up brand to work with and they will provide a make up artiste for the shoots. SB Ltd has a pool of different make-up artistes (both men and women) who have been trained exceptionally well, with a proffessional touch, to doll up people using SB products. This is such a huge privilege for me because I now have Kenya’s first Beauty Brand supporting the blogging work that I do by making sure we have an artiste for every photoshoot. The first blog project under this agreement was on Film Director Jinna Mutune, where we had celebrated make-up artiste Charles Nderitu sent over to represent SB Ltd sometime in November this past year. I’m yet to publish Jinna’s story and I will give you more details on how things went down soon.
For now, I take this opportunity to first thank Suzie Wokabi (CEO & Founder) and the entire team at SB Ltd for accepting to be associated with this blog and supporting the work that I do. It is indeed a great blessing. Let’s all have an epic 2015! Cheers!
